Brazil is the second largest cotton exporter in the world, behind only the United States, and the fourth largest global producer.
Unlike other countries, however, Brazil has a harvest to meet internal demand and still export. In December 2022, for example, the Country exported 175.7 thousand tons of cotton. In the cumulative period of the current commercial year for the sector, from August to December, exports totaled 952.1 thousand tons and had a 14.6% increase in relation to the same period of the previous season.
For 2023, the scenario is even more favorable: the Brazilian lint cotton harvest for the 2022/23 season is estimated at 2.978 million tons, a 16.7% increase in comparison with the 2.553 million tons indicated in the 2021/22 harvest. The numbers are part of the fourth survey by the National Supply Company (Conab) for the 2022/23 harvest.
Furthermore, productivity is estimated at 1,815 kilograms of lint cotton per hectare, compared to 1,596 kilograms per hectare in the 2021/22 season. The area planted with cotton for the 2022/23 season is estimated at 1.841 million hectares, an elevation of 2.6% in comparison with the 1.600 million hectares in the past harvest.
These numbers show that the cotton agribusiness has evolved greatly over the years and currently the cotton produced here is already considered of extreme quality, undergoing rigorous processes and criteria, such as traceability, sustainability, among others.
For cotton producers, it is very feasible to do storage in the field itself, as soon as the bales leave the harvester, the famous cotton rolls, made with plastic film for cotton.
And the cotton rolls have numerous advantages as they allow for storage without losses and maintaining the quality of the cotton, and increasingly rural producers are relying on Super Cotton Wrap, plastic film for cotton bale in the field.
Developed with high technology and through an innovative process, Super Cotton Wrap, plastic film for cotton bale is compatible with the main cotton harvesters on the market, allowing cotton baling to be carried out automatically and without stops, ensuring speed and agility at harvest time.
